In Michigan, there aren’t any state regulations in place that require a server or bartender to be licensed in order to sell alcohol.

It is still important to keep in mind some employers will require bartenders to complete such courses regardless of state or city laws.

Keep in mind, the state does require certain licensees (business owners) to have supervisory personnel on each shift and during all hours in which alcoholic liquor is served who have successfully completed a server-training program.
