Engakuji is the result of a Mongolian invasion.The Engakuji temple complex was built by the leader of Japan, regent Hojo Tokimune, after he had successfully defeated the Mongolian-Korean invasion of 1274 to 1281. It's dedicated to the fallen soldiers on both sides of the conflict.Engakuji is filled with architecture, art and nature.
